🔒 PDF Protect

Add password protection and encrypt your PDF document securely in your browser.

What is PDF Protection?

PDF protection encrypts your document with password protection so that unauthorized users cannot open, view, or modify the content of your PDF file.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is it safe to protect my sensitive PDF files here?

Yes, 100%. The encryption process happens purely inside your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your file is never uploaded to any external server.

2. What encryption strength is applied to the PDF?

The tool uses the PDFSmaller browser encryption library with AES-256 by default on HTTPS, with permission controls. If AES-256 is unavailable in an older/non-secure context, the tool will stop rather than silently downgrade.

3. What is the difference between User and Owner passwords?

The User password is required to open and read the file, whereas the Owner password controls permissions like printing, editing, and copying text.
